Digital Wellbeing Sprint (5 op)

Digital Wellbeing Sprint is an open innovation and co-creation sprint where multidisciplinary and multicultural teams work on developing, prototyping and testing user-centered digital solutions in real-life challenge. During the sprint you will innovate future services for healthcare and wellbeing service providers coming from public and private sectors.

This is unique 3AMK collaboration course, which is coordinated by Metropolia UAS.

Enrollment period: 6th of May – 15th of September

Acceptance for this course will be announced after the enrollment period. After acceptance, students will receive a welcome letter with specific instructions and dates.

A pre-assignment needs to be completed before the course starts. Pre-assignment instructions will be available in Moodle and the deadline for the submission is around two weeks before the DWS start date. The pre-assignment is related to The Design Sprint.

Schedule: the sprint: 14th to 18th of October, daily | Online, Zoom

Learning platform: Metropolia’s Moodle, instructions on how to log in and user IDs will be sent in a welcome letter. | Miro is used for the collaboration, and it is an online collaborative whiteboard platform that enables distributed teams to work effectively together, from brainstorming with digital sticky notes to planning and managing agile workflows. Miro is easy and fun to use. Notice that a computer is needed to access and use Miro.

Course content

Learning goals:

  • create new or improve existing digital wellbeing services through design sprint
  • carry out design process in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary team

During the Sprint teams of students will work with real-life cases together with the organisations from public and private sector. Teams will create digital services for the wellbeing business for the future users. Several Service Design methods will be utilized: methods to gain information about the customer, environment, service and client (for example interviews, observation, customer journey, personas, and stakeholder analyses). To be able to ideate and foresight the future needs teams will practice different kind of innovation and ideation tools. In order to create concrete service concepts teams will apply service business model canvas and other tools to visualize and conceptualize the idea.

In order to attend DWS students need to do a pre-assignment before sprint. The final course assessment consists of the following 3 elements:

  1. pre-assignment (individual work) 
  2. design sprint work (team work) and presentation to partner 
  3. reflection assignment (individual work)
